Screen & Recoat vs. Refinishing
Make sure you actually need the full sand before paying for it.
When wear goes deeper than the finish, we sand to bare wood and rebuild your floor — dust-controlled, carefully done, with a finish system that lasts for years.
The Service
Full refinishing is the deepest service we offer — and the most transformative. We sand away the entire old finish and a paper-thin layer of wood, removing years of scratches, stains, discoloration and damage along with it. What's left is raw, honest wood: the same floor your home was built with.
From there we rebuild: stain if you want a new tone, then multiple coats of professional-grade finish, each cured and lightly abraded before the next. Done right, a refinished floor serves a home for a decade or more before needing anything more than cleaning.
Many floors that look "beyond help" only need a screen and recoat — we'll always check before recommending the full sand. Call 706-223-4435.

Sand to bare wood means the option to keep natural tone, go darker, or change the sheen.
High-efficiency dust containment captures the vast majority of sanding dust at the machine.
A properly maintained refinished floor typically lasts 10+ years before needing a recoat.
From Midtown Columbus to Fortson, we refinish the valley's older hardwood floors with respect for the home.
Our Process
We measure, assess the wood and finish, discuss color and sheen options, and give you a written scope, schedule and price.
Rooms are cleared, adjacent areas sealed, and the space readied so dust stays contained to the work zone.
Progressive sanding passes — coarse to fine — remove the old finish, stains and damage, with dust extraction running throughout.
If you're changing tone, stain is applied and confirmed against a sample before the finish goes on.
Multiple coats of professional finish, each lightly abraded before the next, build a durable, even surface.
The final coat cures, we walk the floor with you, and you receive a care plan that protects the new finish.
FAQ
Signs include deep or gray scratches, finish worn through in traffic paths, water stains or discoloration in the wood, boards that look patchy after cleaning, or an existing recoat that no longer revives the floor. If stain or damage sits in the wood rather than on the finish, refinishing is usually the answer.
Modern refinishing uses dust-containment sanding systems that capture the vast majority of dust at the machine. It's not dust-free, but it's a far cry from the clouds homeowners remember from decades ago. We also seal off work areas and protect adjacent rooms.
A standard refinishing project typically takes three to five days from start to fully cured, depending on square footage, the number of coats, stain choice, and weather. You'll get a clear schedule before we begin.
